About me

I am Ingrid Sluis and the founder of tiny miracles.

tiny miracles has been launched in June 2006 with the ultimate objective to share information and help couples to get their body and mind in the best possible shape to maximise their chance to get pregnant.

The driving force behind tiny miracles is the passion for this subject and the commitment to help others, like yourself. However, please note that I am not a doctor of any kind, I am just going through the whole process myself, as a patient. Although, the articles on the website are provided and written by experts in their field.

tiny miracles has been set up as a limited company with the objective to cover for operating costs in the long term but this project is much more about giving something back to the community and share information which I learned on my journey. Getting pregnant is a very specific and complex topic as it’s not always obvious to find relevant information in the public domain.

Due to the sensitivity of he topic, it will never be the objective to have aggressive advertising on the tiny miracles website, however, to cover operating costs, some subtle advisertising has been put in place and this will be increased in the future.

For the moment, tiny miracles consists of myself and one ad hoc admin staff. In addition, experts provide expert advice through the articles and telephone seminars.

I hope you find the information on tiny miracles useful.

I am also a freelance marketing consultant working with local and global businesses.

My story

I am 39 years young and I am of Belgian nationality but 8 years ago, we decided to move to the UK for work purposes. We are a happily married couple for 14 years.

7 years ago, we decided we wanted to start a family and started on our "getting pregnant journey" and as most couples, we expected to be pregnant within a year not knowing that it would be a slightly longer journey for us.

Our journey started with a range of tests during which we found out that I had one ovary left as the other one was taken away during a previous surgery when removing a cyste. We also found out that I suffered from PCOS which to an extend was a relief as we now had a clarification of some of the symptons which come with PCOS.

We started with Clomid, had an ovarian drilling followed by 3 cycles of IUI. After the IUI cycles, I had some further blood tests to better understand the cause of our unsuccesful attempts and one of them showed that I have a very low Inhibin B which suggests that my ovarian response is dimishing and I might have an early menopause which means that using my own eggs would be not an option anymore in the future and it also helped us to decide that we had to start IVF rather sooner as later.

We decided to first try IVF using my own eggs and had 5 cycles IVF and 1 cycle frozen embryo transfer. As I now managed to produce eggs and my husband had further tests on his sperm (DNA fragmentation), there's no reason why I can't be pregnant and therefore we land in the category of unexplained infertility.

Because we did not want to give up and I always believed that we would have a baby, I started to read about the nutritional approach including diet, vitamins and minerals and how this nutritional approach could help with my PCOS. In addition, we also looked into how complementary medicine can help us. This holistic approach gives us hope again.

With hindsight, I wished that I was more aware of this approach a lot earlier.

But we are where we are and because I learned so much, wanted to share this with you so you don't need to go through the same journey as I did and hopefully couples realise early on that getting your body in the right shape is probably already half the battle.

I hope you find the information on tiny miracles useful.
