We did it and it feels so good as it gives a very positive feeling.

This is an important milestone for us - we just completed the adoption enquiry forms provided by our local council team.

So, this is the start of a new journey but at last, we took control of the situation again instead of living in a world of uncertainty which in itself created a lot of stress for us. We are ever so excited about it.

We have been going through the "getting pregnant journey" already for the past 8 years - 8 very long years which have been very emotional, so, hopefully we will not need to wait that long anymore but let's take one step a time and not get overexcited about it as we realise that this is only the start of the adoption process.

It took us a long time but I think we eventually realised that there's nothing wrong with adopting a child. Not sure why we ever thought it in the first place but I suppose it's the unknown factor which created all the uncertainty. You have this certain view which is created by the world we are living in and from there, you need to unraffle and eventually make a judgement for yourself. However, what did help is that over the last few years, we met several people who have been adopted and they are all very nice people, some are good friends, have made it for themselves, ... so, don't ask but at least we now better understand and know where we are going.

I suppose the other thing we were frighthened about is that as adoptive parents, the children you raise would go back to their birthparents and then loose contact with their adoptive parents - we were afraid of losing our children. Some of the people we know took contact with their birthparents and it gives them comfort to get to know their birthparents better but eventually, every one told us that their adoptive parents will always be the parents who brought them up. Again, I suppose one of these pre-conceptions people have. 

Lots of our friends in the UK have been saying that adoption would be the natural next step for us. Thanks to all of you for the support to us and to give us advice and for the long conversations we had about this topic.
